Reedville and Heathsville are the two largest towns in Northumberland. Northumberland is an easy two hour commute from the Washington, D.C. Area. The Great Wicomico and the Little Wicomico rivers are the primary waterways that flow through Northumberland to the Chesapeake Bay. Northumberland, by Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula standards, is a bit more rural than the counties to the south and thus can be appealing to the buyer who really wishes to get away. That said, with White Stone and Irvington a 30 minute ride or less, plenty of options for groceries and dining aren’t too far away. Northumberland also boasts several preserves for the nature enthusiast. Horn Harbour, Tommy’s Restaurant, Hughlett Point Natural Area Preserve, Reedvillee’s Fisherman Museum, Cockrell’s Creek Seafood & Deli.
